The most crucial aspects of having acute diarrhea is that you lose a considerable amount of fluids as well as salts which means that you will need to drink plenty of fluids in order to keep hydrated. While clean water is always good, you will need to be advised about other types of drinks as well.
Sport Drinks: Because many sports drinks contain salts and some sugars, they are actually better than just plain water because the body can absorb it faster. You will need to check the label to ensure that the sports drinks you purchase are the right ones for your condition. You’ll want to avoid sports drinks that are high in sugar as that is counterproductive to proper hydration.

Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine and Sugary Drinks
These types of drinks actually dehydrate the body at a faster rate and may even contribute to the acute diarrhea symptoms that you are feeling. This will mean avoid most soda pop, coffee and other caffeinated beverages. In addition, you should also avoid milk and other dairy products because in a state of diarrhea your body will temporarily become lactose intolerant and only make the symptoms feel worse.
Normally, eating bland foods are not something to look forward to in your diet. However, if you are suffering from acute diarrhea, you’ll want to make sure the foods you consume are not spicy or have much in the way of artificial flavor such as rice, bananas, toast and applesauce. You can also eat crackers and mashed potatoes if you hold the butter.
